He rules his class with an iron fist,

Not true, but he doesn’t bore us

He teaches with what seems to me a blend of

      St. Francis and Chuck Norris!

(Yes. He did write this in iambic pentameter.)

(College Sophomore)

I really hope to take another course with Prof. Nagle in the future. He had great direction of the course and a clear plan from the first day. I knew exactly what was required of me, as well as his expectations for the course. I enjoyed the conversation starters he provided to prompt us in our learning. I can tell that Prof. Nagle is very passionate about this subject, and it is always more enriching to be taught by someone who loves what they are teaching. He even helped in giving me advice in how to pursue religious studies further in my academic career. Every week, Professor Nagle responded to our seminar papers which I loved because I felt as if he really cared about our learning. Overall, I believe Prof. Nagle may be one of the best faculty members I’ve had so far here.

Before this year, I was rigidly cynical when it came to religion and the idea of God…When I first found out I had another religion class I had to attend, I was unimpressed. I thought it would be like all the other ones I have attended.  It would be boring, strictly teach the Bible, Catholic rules and it would stifle creativity and thought.  Through the teaching of Mr. Nagle, my eyes were slowly opened.  Religion and God weren’t bad! All my preconceived notions were shattered by this class. My view has completely changed…Having an educated view of God is refreshing.  I will always have questions, and will never really understand what or who God is.  Now I love to discuss these questions.  It opens up to other sides of the story, and almost always strengthens by beliefs. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Nagle.  I can say confidently that he is the best teacher I have ever had.

I would like to start by thanking you for be such a memorable teacher. I was never very religious. So I pushed religion out of my life because I did not believe. Freshmen year was my first time really learning about and encountering religion and Catholicism outside of a forced church experience. It was a rocky start at best as I felt biblical information was being shoved down my throat. Connecting with faith felt like a command rather than a voluntary action. Going into your class sophomore year I was dreading more commandment memorization and tests on biblical memorization. I still thought of God as a man in a robe watching us from the clouds. I couldn’t believe this was the way the Church wanted me to see God. With the conversations in class, I quickly became enamored with your class and while I wasn't always the best student, your class made me completely rethink my own faith. This has let me create my own image of God, develop my own faith, and start my own religious journey.
